Up for comparison today, is the ZTE Majesty and the LG Optimus Ultimate. The two phones are actually quite different but I am comparing them today because these are the two largest screened devices south of $300 on the Straight Talk line up. Actually, you would have to move up to one of the Galaxy Sx phones to get a larged screen device. So you could say that these two might actually make good alternatives for the much pricier Galaxy, though of course you don’t get some of the fancier features.

Technology and Calling Area
The first item to mention here is the difference in calling area. The Majesty is CDMA so will be activated with either Verizon or Sprint while the Ultimate is GSM which will be activated AT&T or TMobile.
Screen and Phone Size
The first obvious difference is the screen and phone size. The ZTE Majesty has a large 4.5″ screen which is quite nice, while the LG Ultimate has a slightly smaller 4.3″ screen. Both screens are about equals in width but the ZTE is a little bit taller. As far as the phone dimensions go, the Majesty is obviously larger, though not by much. The bigest difference in terms of size here is the thickness, the LG Ultimate has a more sleeker look to it because it noticably thinner in design. That said, the phone are pretty much the same size to be honest. There is quite a noticable difference in weight here with the Majesty weighing a full ouce more than the Ultimate. So if size is a concern, then you may want to consider the Majesty for its lower price and large screen.
Design & Build Quality
Neither of these phones is particularly flashy in design and both feature the same all plastic construction that is common on mid level phones like this. No I really like the square design of the LG Optimus series phones, I also like the fact that it’s relatively thin for the size. Neither phone really has much by way of flashy trims or bezels. That said, the LG Ultimate just looks a bit nicer and more high end to my eyes..
Processor, Performance and Android
This is where it gets interesting because for the price, you would expect the LG Ultimate to be the superior phone. The fact is that the Ultimate is the lesser of the two here because it has a slower processor at 1.0ghz versus the 1.2ghz on the ZTE Majesty. Next is the Android version where the ZTE Majesty comes out on top again as it has the newer 4.1 Jelly Bean versus the 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwhich on the Majesty. Finally is performance where the two phones perform basically the same but the kicker here is that the Majesty costs like 80 bucks cheaper.
You can’t go wrong with either of these phones but me being the cost conscious person that I am, I have to pick the ZTE Majesty here because you get superior specs, larger screen, a good solid design and most importantly is a much lower price. The downside is that ZTE can be considered somewhat of an off Chinese brand. That said, the Majesty is built well and performs nicely.
